Ministers are reviewing controversial plans to increase employee contributions to public sector pension schemes, after fears of exacerbating already-worsening industrial relations.

The Government had announced in the October 2010 Spending Review that it intended increasing employee pension contributions by an average 3%, spread over three years, starting from April 2012, to raise £1.8bn to offset public sector pension fund deficits.
