Additional public sector job cuts announced in November's Autumn Statement will have ‘a devastating impact on regional employment', the Trades Union Congress (TUC) has warned.
In advance of the release of the year's first unemployment figures, the TUC calculated the extra 310,000 job cuts in local government, education, the NHS and civil service would cause joblessness to range from 6.1% in the least-affected South East rising to 11.7% in hardest-hit region the North East.
