Development strategy will see homes fit for elderly

Towns and homes across the country are to be better geared to an increasingly-elderly population. Communities minister, Hazel Blears, and housing minister, Caroline Flint, will announce this week the Lifetime homes, lifetime neighbourhoods:

A national strategy for housing in an ageing society. It will mean all new homes are ‘future proofed' from 2013, and by 2011 for social housing, with wider doors and staircases and improved design bathrooms.
