We are in the watershed moment for devolution in England. The devolution Bill got royal assent in April. Mayors now have significantly more power than they did before – and that is spreading across the whole country.

But devolution can feel abstract, intangible and technical for most people. Being able to communicate what ‘good' means is part of the story to make devolution stick.
