A Devon district council has been ruled to have acted in haste by challenging the Boundary Committee's recommendation for a Devon county unitary council. A High Court judge said the case brought by East Devon DC was ‘premature', because the communities secretary had already extended the deadline by which the committee must make its final recommendation to 13 February. The decision on whether Devon is to get a unitary council was delayed last month.
