The Queen's Diamond Jubilee looks set to eclipse last April's Royal Wedding.

The Queen's Diamond Jubilee looks set to eclipse last April's Royal Wedding, with the Local Government Association (LGA) already estimating around 3,500 road closure applications for street parties.

With three months still to go until official Jubilee celebrations take place from 2 June, applications have intensified. The Royal Wedding had only seen a handful of applications by this point last year. Cllr Flick Rea, chair of the LGA's culture, tourism and sport board, said: ‘Britain's street party tradition has been well and truly resurrected.'
