Director of Communities, Transformation and Change

Kirklees Council - located between Manchester and Leeds - is seeking to put local communities at the heart of what we do. We believe in strengthening communities and our relationship with them to improve the lives of local people – and changing our organisation to make this happen.

A fresh approach to leadership As Director you will lead transformation and change – developing our people so that they can work more closely with local people, community groups and the third sector. Your influential approach will draw out the leadership, talents and strengths from our colleagues and partners that we need for the future. You will also be responsible for culture and leisure services and lead on the council's statutory duties on community safety. The person appointed will be the lynchpin between the internal and external aspects of the council's transformation.

You will lead council wide organisational development, strategic HR and communications, and through our cultural change programmes you will transform the council into a creative learning organisation responsive to - and engaging with - our customer and community needs.

You will refocus our policy development, the way we communicate and engage with communities and employees, and our approach to developing people by working across services in a "one organisation" approach.

Quick to understand the political realities of our organisation you will be able to build strategic relationships and partnerships ensuring that we deliver on our priorities. Your fresh approach will inspire and engage.
