Graeme Swinburne has been appointed to manage the entire highways, transport, traffic and parking services in two London boroughs. Mr Swinburne is now director of transportation and highways at Kensington & Chelsea RLBC and assistant director, highways and engineering at Hammersmith & Fulham LBC. He was previously interim director of transportation and highways at Kensington & Chelsea. Mr Swinburne has worked at Kensington & Chelsea for 11 years, initially as chief traffic engineer, then as head of policy and transport, and lately as interim director. ‘This is an excellent appoint for both boroughs,’ said Kensington & Chelsea LBC leader, Merrick Cockell. ‘It will allow us to start sharing skills and knowledge and will lead to greater efficiency and effectiveness, benefiting residents and visitors to both boroughs. ‘I have no doubt that where we lead, others will follow.' And Hammersmith & Fulham LBC’s deputy leader, Cllr Nicholas Botterill, added: ‘This is a fantastic opportunity for both boroughs to benefit. ‘We are very pleased to welcome Mr Swinburne on board. ‘We look forward to working with him over the coming months.’
