WORKFORCE

Director, People

We are creating a new directorate by bringing together our Children's and Adults' social services along with Housing, Public Health and Wellbeing. This is a key part of our ambitious plans to ensure that we are well-placed to develop sustainable, affordable services that meet the challenge of supporting our most vulnerable older residents, whilst ensuring that we safeguard and protect the vulnerable children and young people who require our support.

This is an exciting, challenging role which will afford you the opportunity to shape the way in which we deliver our services, create new partnerships and achieve greater levels of integration with external organisations.

As Director, People you will:

* Drive the integration of our Adults', Children's, Housing and Public Health Services and lead the transformation that will produce proactive, dynamic and responsive services;
* Provide strategic leadership and professional guidance to the Council to ensure the effective discharge of relevant statutory duties;
* Act as an ambassador for the Council, leading the formation and development of partnerships which deliver improved outcomes for vulnerable adults and children in the city.

We are looking for an exceptional individual who can demonstrate the following:

* Substantial and recent track record of achievement at Director level in an organisation of comparable scope and complexity; ideally in children's safeguarding and social care or adults' safeguarding and social care;
* Extensive experience and demonstrable success in leading major organisational and cultural change, delivering transformation and innovation in the way in which services are delivered;
* Strong leadership skills with a good track record of financial control, and the demonstrable ability to empower and motivate our workforce during a time of unprecedented change.
