Director of Public Health (for Leicestershire and Rutland) - Leicestershire County Council

Director of Public Health (for Leicestershire and Rutland) - Leicestershire County Council

With the transition of public health into the local authorities successfully completed, we are determined to ‘add quality and years to life' by improving health at all ages, reducing health inequalities and focusing on the different needs of the local population. Ours is very much a well-being agenda.

We are currently recruiting a new Director of Public Health to head up this critical area. Reporting to the Chief Executive of Leicestershire County Council, the successful postholder will be a full member of that Council's Corporate Management Team.  Organisational challenges include facilitating further integration with front-line services and developing greater collaboration with neighbouring Authorities, while we have a number of public health objectives including improving outcomes for young people, supporting and improving physical activity, managing the shift to early intervention and prevention, supporting the ageing population, improving mental health and wellbeing, and tackling the wider determinants of health.

Health and care integration is a priority and the Director  will play a full part in taking it forward across the local  health economy.

This is a great opportunity to help lead high performing services and ensure public health plays a key role in the improvement of outcomes for our communities.
