WORKFORCE

Director of Safeguarding and Social Care (Children and Adults)

If you decide to apply and are successful in the interview, you will be coming to an authority that is well known for its ‘can do' approach, innovation and excellent service delivery. As you already know, all Local Authorities are going through challenging and tough times at the moment and Knowsley is no exception to this, but we are fully committed to providing excellent front line services for our residents. This time last year, senior officers and members of the council agreed a way forward for Knowsley to deal with these tough times, to stay resilient and to face the future with confidence. At the heart of this were six pledges that will secure a sustainable future for Knowsley based on the key issues we will be paying particular attention to over the next few years. We have also put together a multi-million pound investment package to support those pledges.

The pledges are:

1. Drive up GCSE attainment levels to 50%

2. Assisting 10,000 Knowsley residents into long-term jobs

3. Taking on a key leadership role for jobs, skills and tackling poverty in the Liverpool City Region

4. Developing hundreds of affordable new homes and making land available for more than 2,000 others

5. Giving every resident access to financial advice

6. Bringing new community-owned businesses into the local economy to get local people into work.

We have also recently restructured our Senior Management Team and we are looking for two exceptional people who can join us and rise to the challenges that we face. If you are successful in your application for this post, then you will be joining a team of very talented individuals who are working hard to provide a better Knowsley for our residents. If you are still interested, then I would be delighted to hear from you. The application form can be downloaded from our website electronically. If you would like an informal chat about the role, please do not hesitate to contact me on 0151 443 3772.

"Although we face budget pressures, we are committed to providing excellent front-line services."

"We are a forward-thinking and ambitious authority, and are looking for two people who share our passion for Knowsley and our determination to make a difference to people's lives."
