Directors' key role

The chief executive of the ICAEW,says finance directors have a key role to play in helping councils during the austerity period.

Finance directors have a key role to play in helping councils to deliver public services during the austerity period, according to the chief executive of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

Speaking at a conference in Brighton on 7 November, Michael Izza, said: ‘They should be part of the decision-making process, because when leadership teams have financial skills to complement their policy and delivery skills – great things happen.'
