Economic decisions taken by remote Whitehall departments and quangos are continuing to stymie attempts to boost local growth, the Local Government Association (LGA) has observed.

An LGA report on growth this week warned central government had made choices that ‘often fail to fit with the needs of places, investment decisions or local economic conditions'.
