In the current period of austerity, it is easy to make budget cutbacks in areas such as member development, member training, scrutiny, staff development, and investing in improving the competencies and capabilities of our workforce.
Perhaps the links between frontline services which really matter to people every day, and the resources we invest in our elected members and our staff, are sometimes not immediately obvious.
