Donna Hall on life after getting four scores in the 'One Place' CAA scores

Following the eagerly-anticipated publication of the ‘One place' CAA scores at the end of last year, at Chorley, we have been inundated with phone calls and e-mails.

Other councils have contacted us in their droves wanting to know how we managed to get four scores for ‘Use of resources' and for our ‘Organisational assessment'.

Although we are always keen to support colleagues, dealing with and hosting all these requests for separate fact-finding visits, sending out copies of our policy documents, filling in questionnaires for scrutiny committees, and the rest, takes time. Time we should be spending improving Chorley council!

We checked out who else had received a double four and, following a discussion with Steve Pleasant, chief executive at
Tameside MBC, which faces a similar onslaught of inquiries, we will be hosting a joint learning event at Chorley Town Hall on 10 June.

We feel this will save both councils significant time and money in channelling all of the separate inquiries we have received into one event. At the same time, both councils are passionate about sector-led improvement, and we want to learn from others who will, hopefully, attend to share the experiences of their improvement journeys . The day-long session will be a practical learning event and will focus on the pre-requisites which need to be in place before a council can achieve a double four, including:
