Richmondshire DC has started to draw up plans to share a chief executive with Hambleton DC. Councillors voted last week to start formal discussions with Hambleton about appointing an interim chief executive for six months, starting in January. ‘This would be very much a first for north Yorkshire, and it would be on an interim basis,' said Richmondshire DC leader, Melva Steckles. ‘We would be trying something new, so we would monitor the arrangements carefully to make sure we were getting the best deal for Richmondshire's residents.' Several other councils are now sharing chief executives, including Adur DC and Worthing BC, and Essex CC and Brentwood BC.
