Charnwood and Rushcliffe DCs are poised to agree an innovative cross-border partnership on sharing council services. Charnwood in Leicestershire and Rushcliffe in Nottinghamshire have been working on a ‘Shared support and transactional services project' covering finance, human resources, IT, benefits and revenues services for more than 18 months. Already the two councils have selected Liberata as their preferred partner and the company has submitted details to both local authorities outlining details of how the scheme will operate. Liberata has said that it will build a new service centre midway between the two areas with some staff working from local council offices but others transferring to the new location. Members of Charnwood's cabinet have backed the proposals at a meeting press. Charnwood leader Cllr Richard Shepherd said: ‘The councils' joint evaluation panel is satisfied that the offer from Liberata is compliant. We are hoping that the formal approval processes will soon be completed and we shall then be able to make further details available.'
