Housing minister Grant Shapps has offered wannabe decorators and carpenters the opportunity to become an ‘apprentice in the home' – and to get paid to hone their skills.
Under Mr Shapps' tenant cashback scheme, first floated last year, social housing residents will get the chance to tackle ‘everyday' DIY challenges in their homes – such as leaky taps and painting and decorating – and will receive up to £500 to complete the work.
