East Dorset DC members have agreed to slash councillor numbers by more than 10%.

East Dorset DC members have agreed to slash councillor numbers by more than 10%.

The proposals, which suggest reducing councillor numbers from 36 to 29, will shortly be submitted to the Boundary Commission for England. Under the plan, councillors could expect the number of electors they serve to increase from around 2,000 on average to 2,585. East Dorset DC leader, Cllr Spencer Flower, said the proposals would ‘allow us to work in a more streamlined and efficient manner, while still giving our residents sufficient representation'.
