One might argue that since very few people seem to be happy with the Boundary Commission's draft proposals for altering the constituency boundaries for Westminster MP's that they might have it right, however the focus simply on numbers has thrown up some weird boundary lines. In my own patch the proposals include splitting my Ward not just between 2 constituencies, but between 2 counties - Herts & Beds.It was right to review these boundaries because the numbers required to elect MP's from different parts of the country varied so much - in essence fewer people were needed to elect urban based MP's than were required to vote in rural MP's.Central Beds will have Wards (or parts of Wards) not only in the Hertfordshire seats of Letchworth, Hemel and Hitchin & Harpenden, but the whole of Dunstable added to the Luton North seat.Nadine Dorries sees her seat disappear completely & the only full constituency within Central Beds would be South West Beds. The howls of foul continue, but I hazard a guess that few will be listened to before this goes before Parliament.
