DWP auto-enrolment plans under scrutiny

Pensions experts welcome plans to reduce obligations on public sector employers to comply with automatic enrolement legislation.

Plans by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to reduce the obligations on public sector employers to comply with automatic enrolment legislation have been welcomed by pensions experts.

Under a consultation launched last month, DWP ministers could introduce a Bill, which, among other measures, would exempt employers already providing good pension schemes from having to meet the new duties. A system of certification or self-certification is being proposed.
