Edinburgh City Council has apologised to residents after a computer glitch saw hundreds of residents incorrectly hit with council tax reminders. The council blamed a ‘systems' error and confirmed it was taking steps to resolve it. A spokesman added: ‘Last year, we issued 150,000 reminder notices to people who haven't paid their council tax so, while we are aware there is a glitch that needs to be addressed, this has to be accommodated within the already-huge workload associated with processing council tax.'
