Gloucestershire CC has agreed a multimillion-pound efficiency deal with Capgemini. The programme of IT transformation should deliver £60m of savings over the next four years. The planned savings will come on top of the £43m efficiency savings delivered by the council over the last three years, and the additional £5m annual savings achieved since the beginning of last year following the implementation by Capgemini of a new, council-wide IT system in January 2008. Peter Bungard, chief executive of Gloucestershire CC, said: ‘Our new IT system provides a springboard for change by improving communications across the council, by giving staff the consistent and timely information they need for decision-making, and by allowing us to explore in detail a number of money-saving scenarios.'
