Efficiency review fails to deliver

Inverclyde Council's chief executive has claimed the authority will axe fewer jobs than anticipated over the next two years, despite suspending four officials over a troubled efficiency programme.

John Mundell, the Scottish town hall's chief, issued a statement on 14 January, in which he claimed that, despite major problems with the council's Future Operating Model (FOM) efficiency programme, alternative savings had been identified at the council.
