Public sector employees are flouting security policies designed to protect applications and data, according to new research.
A survey from Vodafone UK found 20% of mobile workers in the public sector had admitted to watching streaming TV from sites such as BBC iPlayer on their work laptops or mobile devices while out of the office. The company warned they could be creating significant ‘hidden' costs for their employers.
A spokesman said: ‘Connectivity and mobility are key to staying ahead of the competition, but all devices need to be appropriately secured and managed.'
