An employment appeal tribunal judge has admitted English employment laws are unfair to agency workers. Mr Justice Bean said: ‘The state of the law regarding the status of long-term agency workers is far from satisfactory but it will need legislation to change it.' It follows the case of an agency-supplied estates officer working for Haringey LBC who was dismissed after 12 months and wanted to bring a case of unfair dismissal. The claim was not allowed because the tribunal ruled he was neither an employee of the temp agency nor did he have a contract with Haringey LBC.
