The row between Enfield LBC and its PCT has deepened, with fresh concern over conditions at the maternity wards of Barnet Hospital. Enfield LBC leader, Mike Rye, called for action after the hospital department was criticised in a recent edition of the Panorama TV programme for not having enough beds or basic equipment. One woman was filmed giving birth in a corridor. ‘I was shocked and disgusted to see the absolutely appalling and disgraceful conditions in the maternity wards of the hospitals shown on Panorama, and of Barnet in particular,' said Cllr Rye.
