Leeds City Council leader, Cllr Keith Wakefield, has announced he will throw his hat into the ring, if residents vote in favour of an elected mayor for the city.

Cllr Wakefield said while he remained opposed to the idea of an elected mayor, he would seek the Labour Party nomination if the city voted ‘yes' in today's (3 May) referendum.
