What does the Epping 'asylum hotel' High Court case mean for councils and planning departments?

The recent High Court judgment concerning the Bell Hotel in Epping has left many expecting a definitive answer on whether asylum hotels constitute a breach of planning control disappointed. 

While it may not have resolved the central question that many hoped it would address, the judgment offers crucial lessons for local authorities on decision-making processes, the appropriate use of enforcement powers, and how planning departments should respond to political pressure.
