The work of the troubled families unit – responsible for transforming the lives of 120,000 families by 2015 –was showcased by communities secretary, Eric Pickles, in his speech to the Conservative Party conference.
Addressing delegates in Birmingham earlier this week, Mr Pickles said every top-tier English council has signed up to the £448m payment-by-results scheme – which aims to be supporting more than 40,000 families – by the end of the year.
