Ministers are already preparing back-up plans to scrap the controversial two-year social housing tenancies announced earlier this week, The MJ has learned.

If the snowballing campaign against the proposals intensifies, CLG officials have built into their eight-week consultation period an option to increase the minimum tenancies contract offered by local authorities and their partners.
