Essex CC has announced a new plan to save its post offices threatened with closure, and put them at the heart of their local communities. The Essex Model will allow local community facilities – such as pubs, cricket clubs and village shops – to become post offices. ‘Post offices are at the heart of the community and the services they provide are more than just selling stamps and car tax, they provide a valuable social service,' said Essex CC leader, Lord Hanningfield.
