The Essex Waste Partnership has selected a joint venture between Balfour Beatty and Urbaser as preferred bidder for an £800m residual waste treatment contract.

Under the 28-year public-private partnership deal, a new sustainable waste treatment facility will be built for Essex CC and Southend-on-Sea Council. The project is expected to reach financial close later this year.
