Legal experts have claimed council staff do not have the right to discriminate against homosexuals in the workplace.

Legal experts have claimed council staff do not have the right to discriminate against homosexuals in the workplace, following a judgement by European law-lords on 15 January.

Ruling on the case of Lillian Ladele, a registrar for Islington LBC, who refused to conduct same-sex civil partnership ceremonies, the European Court of Human Rights found her unwillingness, on religious grounds, contravened the council's zero tolerance policy towards discrimination.
