Strategic migration partnerships have raised concerns about the impact of a Home Office decision to downgrade its legal duty to provide support to asylum seekers.
From 2 June, the statutory duty to provide support to destitute asylum seekers has been replaced by a discretionary power, with councils expected to have to absorb the fallout from any support gaps.
