Devon CC has signed an agreement with waste disposal contractor, Viridor, for the development of a £45m energy-from-waste incinerator in Exeter.

The plant will be built by French company, TIRU, under contract to Viridor, and the agreement will pave the way for the 60,000 tonnes of residual household waste generated in the Exeter area each year to be diverted from landfill and sent to the new incinerator.
