Senior politicians are set to explain how they believe local government can help the public sector save billions of pounds. They are expected to use the CIPFA Public Finance conference in Brighton on 17-19 June to set out their thinking on the Gershon II proposals, set out by chief secretary to the Treasury, Yvette Cooper. Lucy de Groot, chief executive of the IDeA, and Edward Leigh MP, chairman of the Commons public accounts committee, are among those speakers scheduled to attend.
