Property experts have warned Whitehall departments not to risk a fire-sale approach to selling surplus land, following demands by ministers that ‘no stone is left unturned' in efforts to release significant central government's landbanks for development.
Assisted by experts from the government property unit (GPU), Francis Maude, minister for the Cabinet Office, is scrutinising each department's land release plans, challenging them to relinquish as much land as possible.
