Inflation-busting fare rises in London could be eradicated if transport bosses licensed more creative sponsorship deals, a Conservative member of the Greater London Authority has suggested.

Gareth Bacon has estimated that £136m raised through sponsorship could freeze passenger fares for a year, while £204m would allow Transport for London to cap fares at the rate of inflation for the next three years.
