After seven years of planning, the Olympic Flame this week arrived in Newham LBC – home of the 2012 Games' iconic stadium – ahead of tomorrow's opening ceremony.
Preparations for the biggest peacetime event in the UK for a generation are now complete – with six ‘Olympic boroughs' in London and other sites around the country ready to host the biggest sporting spectacle on the planet. Around 11,000 athletes will take part in the games, with 10,000 Britons involved in the opening and closing ceremonies.
