You wake up and your funding is just so low. You ask DCLG ‘please?' but it still says, ‘no!'You've gotta fight… for your Wight … to invest? No, this isn't a matter of ill communication – Isle of Wight Council has teamed up with its local paper to highlight how cuts to local services are impacting on the regional economy. The Beastie Boys-tinged Fight for the Wight campaign includes a petition urging the Government to increase funding for the island. Protesters this week took their case for fairer funding to Trafalgar Square, proving there's going to be no sleep ‘til Whitehall for council campaigners. Backing from the local business community has helped the campaign go intergalactic while even Level 42 frontman Mark King has joined the masses crying ‘sabotage!' over government funding levels.
