Tighter controls on immigration will lead to better community cohesion, the Tories have claimed. Shadow immigration minister, Damian Green, said a ‘firm immigration policy' was necessary to enable councils to provide services for those arriving in the country. He told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: ‘Local authorities in various parts of the country have pointed out the difficulties.'
