Fixing the family support gap

For local councils, the rollout of Family Hubs presents an attractive opportunity to strengthen support for children and families. But, with stretched council budgets and commitments, making sure the families who need the most help they can get remains a challenge.

We know from the research on Sure Start centres that the support available through Family Hubs can improve children's life chances. But funding is much tighter than it was in the Sure Start era. In addition, not all families are aware they can access support through Family Hubs and low-income families are more likely to face challenges accessing support.
