Hampshire CC’s flagship nursing homes drew admiring glances from councillors at the LGA conference last week. But the 10 new homes, built in partnership with the health authority and the NHS, have come complete with a health warning. Hampshire’s leader, Ken Thornber, said: ‘Although these new homes are helping us, this comes at a cost. Many of our residents need a high level of nursing care and this should be funded by the Government.’ Pictured are two of the councillors from a visiting delegation, Dawn Cousins and Bill Parker, meeting 82-year-old Hawthorne Court resident, Leonora March, and carer, Kai James.
