Around 2,300 families badly affected by last year's floods could have their council tax bills waived this year, under plans announced by local government minister, John Healey. Mr Healey announced on 4 August that families who still could not live in their homes following last summer's floods would receive £1m in total support. The CLG aims to make the payments next month. More than 1,000 families in Hull could receive around £400,000 between them, while significant support will also go to families in Tewkesbury, East Riding and Wychavon.
