Whitehall's ‘nudge unit' is not guaranteed to work, and could become a multimillion-pound flop, a senior minister has warned.
Oliver Letwin, minister of state at the Cabinet Office, last week said the team formed to apply behavioural economics theory – colloquially referred to as ‘nudge' theory, following publication of a book of that name – to government policies may not produce identifiable benefits.
