Councils need better joint working to support disabled parents, according to new guidance from the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE). SCIE chief executive, Julie Jones, said the guidance built on examples of best practice from councils, including Norfolk and Suffolk CCs, showed local authorities how to develop local joint-working protocols. ‘Agencies should ensure that their responses address the needs of parents and children together as a family, and not as individuals in isolation from each other,' she said.
