The future of troubled football club Port Vale looks safe, after Stoke-on-Trent City Council and other creditors voted in favour of an offer by local businessman, Keith Ryder, to buy the team.

The deal was agreed last week by more than 90% of the creditors at a special meeting and the administrator, Begbies Traynor, hopes to complete the transfer of the Football League club before the end of June.
