~Highland Council~ is forging links with the Far East by taking on a Chinese official for six months. Bingan Xu, from Hengshui City, in the Hebei Province, has just started a six-month placement at the council. He will be working with Inverness's area development manager, Graham Strachan, to identify opportunities for businesses, educationalists and tourism operators to benefit from developing links between the Highlands and China. Mr Strachan said: ‘I see great potential for developing links with China.'
