Two former officers from Luton Council have been jailed for two-and-a-half years after stealing £200,000 from the local authority. Jon Maddox, 37, from Northampton, and Mark Joyce, 43, of Luton, both pleaded guilty to charges of false accounting and obtaining property by deception. A civil action is now under way to recover the lost money. Council leader, Hazel Simmons, said it was an ‘isolated case which was dealt with promptly and properly'.
